Kayne West Goes Japanese

American rapper Kayne West has released a new music video inspired by the anime Akira:

His “song” might just be him singing on top of a far better song he didn’t make, but the video’s still pretty cool.

The video is great but…huh, the song is horrible. Why did he have to go and butcher the (much superior) Daft Punk track? Inexcusable.

I like the video. The song is okay. I haven’t watch Akira yet so I have no idea. I guess Japanese culture is getting a little popular with American entertainers. I know that there are a lot of Western jpop fans. I think it all started with anime and manga.

All Americans love this movie. I’m flipping over this video. Though they did butcher that song. But as far as I remember, rappers love daft punk. I remember another rapper (snoop dogg) who butchered another one of their classics.

You’re thinking of Busta Rymes butchering it. He made a song off of Technologic called Touch It.

While I do feel that Daft Punk’s “Harder Better Faster Stronger” is indeed superior, I don’t think that Kanye “Butchered” the song.

I like how the shot they shot the dance sequences with Cassie inside actual retail stores. The set with the tube is the tube that connects the Billionare Boys Club store to the Ice Cream store in Harajuku.

And then the set with all the horizontal lights is the stairwell leading up the the second (shoe) floor in the “Ape Exclusive” store in Minami-Aoyama.

Daft Punk (whom i have all the albums) music is based on ripping other’s tracks as well so there no point in saying one butchered another.

FYI Daft punk also featured another rap band: 113.

Kanye was also on a track with Teriyaki Boyz called “I Still Love H.E.R.” It is pretty good.
