Sumo Shock: The cause of the sudden death of a sumo wrestler during practice here earlier this week is likely to be shock caused by multiple injuries he sustained to his whole body, according to police. [Link]

Dutch Complaint: A Dutch legislator sent a letter to her Japanese counterpart on Thursday to seek clarification about an opinion advertisement — endorsed by some Japanese lawmakers — in a U.S. newspaper that disputes that women in Asia were forced into sexual slavery for the Japanese military during World War II. Mummy: A family has left the body of a 42-year-old woman untouched at their apartment in Aichi Prefecture for four months since she died in February, allowing it to mummify. [Link]

Punitive Action: The Osaka municipal government has decided to suspend 965 employees for a month for falsifying their academic qualifications to take an employment exam for non-college graduates, and reprimanded and reduced the salaries of 80 others who failed to pay taxes and other expenses. Corruption At Fuji TV: Fuji Television Network Inc dismissed Friday the head of its news bureau, Tetsuo Suzuki, for embezzling 9.13 million yen in company money. [Link]
