Of course he is a "fake"! The whole thing is a joke! And it is a hilarious joke! Calling him a "fake" is like calling John Cleese a "fake frenchman" in his role in "Monty Python's Holy Grail". Having lived in Japan for 6 years, I perfectly understand Ken Tanaka's humor, and it has given me some of the best laughs I've had in years!

[...] There’s been a lot of controversy recently over the strong resemblance of American-born Japanese YouTuber Ken Tanaka (helpmefindmyparents) and an actor on IMDB named David Ury. Some, including myself, even claimed they may have been in the same person. But I’m afraid we were all mistaken! Ken Tanaka has just posted this video in which he meets David Ury: [...]

you have to ask the question why he's talking english in a japanese accent. i doubt he was adopted in japan in the 70's, so he's a fake.

I love Ken Tanaka, but I am afraid if someone did that to a native Japanese, she would think something is seriously wrong with him.
I know Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka, who are looking for the their adopted son. They are very worried about him because, well, he sometimes acts funny. Maybe Ken Tanaka should meet them before they find out their biological parents.
BTW, I think "Doumo" and "maa, maa" are very convenient words useful in almost every context.
