For real, Flame of Recca needs to get some credit for being awesome, and fushigi yugi…Great romance fantasy anime(personal fav.) But the anime on the list are classics and are the reason New anime like Naruto,Bleach,Death note, etc could be made. These are merely the muse for nowaday anime. This list is anime we should respect and watch just to understand how the great anime of today was thought up.

i think the best anime on this list was Princess Mononoke. the rest of them are good for a watch but i dont think worth buying lol… really though not one good anime with some sword fighting lol too much mech imo tho moble suit is good. just shows the diffrence in culture, they like giant robots we like sword fighting. were they want many strong charictors we only need one or two as long as their bas A$$ and DBZ that high wtf that was cool……when i was 12 lol

Okay, seriously?! Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is one of the VERY VERY FEW animes that is psychologically thrilling, with a twist of every genre. Shojo animes are full of love, all the freaking time, like it’s the OMAIGAWD MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE!

Higurashi was amazing and this list is bullshit for leaving it out. Higurashi is SO AMAZING, I cannot put into words, how absolutely epic it.

How come there’s only one Rumiko Takahashi anime on that list? Where’s Ranma 1/2? Many old-schoolers and new anime watchers alike would probably agree that it should be up there with Urusei Yatsura, at least. And many would also say Maison Ikkoku should be there, too (considered by many to be the finest romantic comedy)

Unbiased comment: Where in the world is Adachi’s “Touch” anime? It’s the highest rated anime TV show ever in Japan, with a 34% share!

To me, the list is okay. Many of the anime I would’ve watched when I was younger is up there, along with Miyazaki. At least it’s not dominated by the new anime like Bleach and Naruto (now matter how good it may be to some). But Ranma, Maison Ikkoku, and Touch not being there frustrates me a little.

That being said, I’d be interested to know the demographics of the survey. Many old-school anime, little Takahashi and no Touch.

BTW this list is a fair representation for the polling audience so you retarded fan boys should go do your own stupid polls on your own stupid websites that label Naruto, Bleach, et cetera as the number one anime. Yea, that will show the Internet world who is boss. Try reading their manga versions and then you’ll realize that their authors intent and the anime adaption’s intent differ significantly. I enjoy reading Naruto(the manga) but despise the TV adaptation because it has been run through the Money grinder/press and gang raped into something that it was not at all.

Oh, and Code Geass blows chunks. I gave up within the first 10 episodes. I’d rather sink myself into something more intellectually stimulating than to watch some effeminate male go around on a hellbent revenge cycle. Ok, would everyone shutup about Bleach? When the series started is was great for about the first 20 or so episodes, then it turned into generic anime action BS. I agree that Death Note should make the list, I also think Eureka-7 should be on more than just the fan pick. As for Kenshin, I love the guy (hell Rurouni Kenshin is what made me start liking anime), but the story is way to full of plot holes and, much like bleach, generic anime action BS to make the list.

This is coming from a person who enjoys Eva more than any other anime. The first episode is one of the worst episodes of any show ever. And beyond that, the show doesn’t get really good until about halfway through the series. Before episode 16 (i think) it seems to be a fairly mundane giant-robot, mech, or whatever you want to call it, anime.

Look, the whole of DB/DBZ was way better than most of these anime’s. DB-GT wansn’t that great but still had its moments. Akira deserves to be in the top five. Neo shoudn’t be number one interms of excitements, but if you going for story then maybe just maybe i could understand that. My big question is are these for best anime series or best anime movies.

Everyone knows the Dragoball series (Dragonball, Dragoball Z, and even Dragonball GT) were the best anime ever.

Probably the best cartoon in general ever ;p.

Not to mention the original dragoball was made in 1986.

Wow. NGE is the best series. I watched Bleach until 183, and trust me, its like putting in a third of the kool-aid packet. Watery and sour to say the least.

NGE deserves #1 By far. (IMO) Blew DN out of the water. The mainstream anime these days (Naruto Bleach One Piece yaya) suck. They’re terrible repititions. Really, the story repeats itself in such a manner:

Upraising of young man with talent-meets friends with talents-fights and owns the first “encounter”-meets match-gets owned-gets stronger-owns original owner-get owned-get stronger-owns original owner-plot-filler. Repeat all but the first 3, and theres your sh*tty mainstream crap that most seem to love because they scream and beat each other up.

If you have not seen NGE, or think it sucks, either watch it, or youre just too retarted to watch an anime that isnt spoon fed through your little ears. Pay attention.
