Bulletproof Tissues
Another beautiful experiment from Hey! Spring Of Trivia: How many layers of tissues does it take to stop a bullet? They had a South Korean olympic marksman take aim with his Smith & Wesson P.C. 945:
The answer: about 2500 tissues. Their team counted each layer of tissue that the bullet made a hole in, determining that the 2354th tissue was without any damage. Of course, the impact of the bullet knocked back the tissues pretty hard, so anyone wearing a 2500 tissue vest that gets shot by handgun probably won’t be pierced by the bullet, but they can expect some injuries.

What would be interesting is to see if a similar weight of (a) normal paper and (b) cardboard would be more or less effective. Does the multi layering of the tissues have any effect at all? How far back before we get a whole hole in one?

Why on earth didn’t they count from the back? Pretty dumb to count from the front when they already knew it went through 2000…

i wonder how many more it would’ve penetrated if they had something holding them so they couldn’t move, like a piece of plywood right behind them or something

Don’t you mean each layer of tissue that the bullet made a “hole” in?
