Japanese Report On Chinese One-Child Policy Riot

Here’s a English-subtitled Japanese news report about China’s one-child policy, which limits the number of children a family can have to just one. Those who break the rules face penalties, which can sometimes result in riots:

Naturally, the PRC are being fucked up here, but this is ALSO more anti-Chinese propaganda from Japan. Almost 20 years after the Deng era and Tiananmen, the human rights card is a little old at this point.

Personally, I don’t know which would bother me less:the Chinese citizens ousting this regime, or the PRC cracking the whip until the Chinese public can learn act civilized. (Ok, jokes aside, I prefer the latter).

I can’t deny that the Japanese media seems to love reporting about bad news from China, but I’d hardly say the “human rights card” is old, especially if the forced abortions mentioned in the video actually happened.

I think your perspective is a common misconception. As fucked up as China is, it’s really more of a political statement when one country “reports” (in the mass-media) on the human rights abuses of another, as you can clearly see how it can bend the opinions of the viewing nation. The congressional liberals (i.e., Nancy Pelosi) complain about this shit ALL the time when they wants something in China in terms of trade. And lately, Japan seems to be using the same ‘card,’ now that they want a seat on the UN security counsel. These reports are definitely more political interference than they are legit public complaints.

If someone actually wants to make a difference for the sake of morality, it will come in the form of a formal complaint to the UN from an NGO, not a damning report on mainstream TV.

Furthermore, the Chinese are really sensitive to this, and even forbid this sort of shit in their foreign policy. Check out #3:

I think you’re misunderstood. Unlike China, Japan has a separation of state and press. It’s not the press’s job to go to the UN and file a formal complaint. The press’s job is to report truth and raise awareness. If the Japanese people weren’t aware and equally infuriated by the horrific acts by the Chinese government, how are we to tell our government to complain to the UN?

The press doesn’t have some ploy to make Japanese people dislike China. The press doesn’t have a “foreign policy” to try to make China look bad and gain. The press just wants to make money. Japan is a democracy. Japan is not communist. Japan is not China.

Obviously the press isn’t controlled by authoritarian rule, but you’re being pretty delusional if you think it it just turns a blind eye to what’s being reported on. Western nations are guilty of this as well. I think most of us remember the movie, The Last Emperor? Funny how those kinds of movies stopped after Tienanmen and trade issues became popular.

You really think any Japanese give a damn about any Chinese? No way, these reports are allowed to continue only to press the dividing line between Chinese forced communism (socialists), and Japanese voluntary corporate slavery (rightists).

And NGOs have their own highly professional researchers. They don’t need media bias to do their jobs.

Well, I don’t need to do much research to find out what Japanese think, I AM Japanese so I know what we think.

More is revealed about you by your comments than the object of your comments, the Japanese. Before you go doubt the sincerity behind Japanese people’s concerns, I think you should look at the immediate truth that China is killing pregnant women and forcing abortions amongst other actual harms.

I’m sure if China was where Canada was, American media and American public would be equally concerned.

I don’t think that the report in CNN.co.jp is exaggerated. Rather, readers of English-language media are not so interested in human right issues in China.

One child policy in China is global issue, not just chinese prob.

China’s notorious policy is creating huge social prob among chinese ppl. I guess they didn’t have any choice – this not only they created big raps in gender but their kids are fatter, narrow-minded, anti-social (which is so not communist).

China is big contradiction nation on earth. One child policy, one China policy, but two systems policy. (i.e. Economy & HK)

Who calls communism society as ideal one though is cannot satisfy the 2nd strongest instinct of human.
40 million young men are out of bride and the deficit is increasing.
Those who left over cannot help going to brothel or possibly raping.
AIDS sufferers are now increasing rapidly in China.

Human rights itself is not a issue in China.
So. An opinion that the issue of Chinese human rights is old is right.
Human rights violations in China now is for money-making of an urban region not for an ideal of a country. It is a problem.

I notice the increasing posts about China (almost all are negative ones, and a lot of them have NOTHING to do with Japan, i.e. one child policy, feeding cows to tiger, or North korean restaurant serving dogs, fake disneyland..etc) on this blog that’s call “Japan Probe”. I’m not sure why, and not sure what’s the blogger’s intentions are. But when I visit a blog call Japan probe I’d expect interesting news/issues about Japan. If I want to read about China’s issues I prefer reading them on other blogs who actually KNOW about China and would offer more rounded dimensional insights. If James is really geninuely interested in China’s issues (even if only negative ones), why not do more researches, read up more from different sources and start another blog about it? The china-disliking commenters these posts often attract would have a bigger place to vent too.
