Japan Photo of the Week: Monkeys of Miyajima

May 26th, 2007 by Evan

After stopping by Matsushima and Amanohashidate it is time to hit up the third of the “three,” Miyajima. Miyajima is easily my favorite of the so called “3 most scenic views of Japan” and while it is most famous for it’s (sometimes) floating tori gate at Itsukushima Shrine, there is really a lot more to be seen. For example, monkeys.

I kind of feel like monkeys are kind of like babies, in the sense that it is really hard not to smile or be happy when you are around them. Anyway, if you head up to the top of Mt. Misen on Miyajiima, there are a bunch of Monkeys and deer that just chill up there. Also, on a nice sunny day, the view is pretty incredible.
