Japan Photo of the Week: Amanohashidate
Last week I showed you a photo from Matsushima, one of Japan’s “3 scenic views” and this week I am sharing with you another of the big 3: Amanohashidate. Amanohashidate, which literally means “bridge to heaven,” is located in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Basically, if you go to either end of this natural land bridge covered with pine trees, you can go up a small mountain (more like a large hills actually) and get a nice overhead view. Once you are up on either side, turn around, bend over, and look between your legs, like so:
While you are in this pose and looking below, it is suppose to look like a bridge leading to heaven. Personally, I didn’t see it, but maybe you can only see it when it isn’t cloudy. In any case, you can find more information about Amanohashidate here.
This photograph was taken by Evan Pike. If you would like to see more or buy this photograph, check out the gallery.
