High-Tech Japanese Super Door

May 18th, 2007 by James

Here’s a very cool clip of a newly developed door, which only opens to the width and height of those passing through it:

Coming to a Japanese house near you?

Finally the horribleness of dealing with doors that opened up too much space for me is done. Now if only we can do something about fans that oscillate over too great an angle.

The long wait before it responds would get old fast, but seriously, if they want to use this door to keep heat in or out etc then they better do something about that huge gap in the middle.

So I guess that’ll work for cats and dogs too? How do you lock it?

I doubt this door is not practical for actually keeping areas locked. It probably provides zero insulation as well.

it seems to be pretty buggy, getting your eye poked or face scraped would also get pretty annoying

looks pretty cool, but its the future that they are showing, not something that would be sold at DIY shops. looks a bit slow too. the amount of times iv walked into a slow moving automatic door at 7-11 in korea and taiwan is father annoying
