The Real Karate Kid

May 8th, 2007 by James

Reality is a whole lot scarier than the movies:

[The karate black belt shown in the video is Wayne Dalglish, and it was taped when he was 9-years-old. The Japanese blog through which I found the video indentifies Wayne as a girl, but The Official Wayne Dalglish Website states that he is a boy.]

As a person with a funky name, I immediately picked up on the arena announcer (not the TV commentators) botching the kid’s name at the end of the clip. He yells, “WAYNE DALGISH!” Forgot an L there, bud. Wouldn’t tick off that kid if I were you.

wellllll he might be good. But as a child he would still be easy for an adult to take……he doesn’t seem to have much mental or ki breathing control…that kata sucked.

This is kinda FLASHY for martial arts, isnt it? I’d like to see some cool moves that look like they could do something, not a baton twirler.

Stupid. Too much ninja turtles for this kid. No power, no hip rotation, very stiff. Maybe someday he’ll be good, but this is just a flashy joke.
