Coming this Summer: The Rematch
American pro-eating blogger Don “Moses” Lerman has spotted posters advertising the July 04, 2007 Nathan’s hot dog eating competition. Japanese super eater Takeru Kobayashi has triumphed in the contest for the last few years, but an American named Joey Chestnut came dangerously close to matching Kobayashi in last year’s battle. Even though qualifiers for the main competition have yet to be held, it appears that Nathan’s is pretty confident that Chestnut and the other American professional eaters will be there to challenge Kobayashi on Independence Day. Will America once again be able to claim the crown of hot dog gluttony, or will they continue to lose miserably to Japan’s finest? I think I’d bet on the latter…
