I usually stay in Minami-Senju these days when I have to go to Tokyo. Once stayed for 3000 near the station, then 2500 for a ten-minute walk from the station. Good area. While not replete with tourist attractions, it's an easy ride to the Ueno area. Or you could even walk - I've done that before. Some of the rooms are incredibly tiny though.

Oh, and if you want rock bottom accommodation, head to the Kamagasaki area of Osaka, where rooms start at a mere 1,000 yen a night. Or you could join the hundreds of homeless people there on the streets.

Fair enough, 20.00 USD = 2,373.20 JPY today, so it is 126.8 yen cheaper to stay at your place, but I notice from the website that you have four bunks to a room. At the one in the video, one bunk, one room. You do have to pay that 126.8 yen premium to get a private room, but I for one think it is worth it.

Way better deals exist. I stayed here:http://www.hostels.com/en/availability.php/HostelNumber.10077 for only $20 a night, 1 minute walk from Asakusa station and 5 minutes from Senso Ji! Great place to stay on a budget with free internet and a view of the river, as well as a small library of books and movies.

I guess he needs to be a block walking distance away from Shibuya or Shinjuku. Maybe he means that it'll "cut" into his time just to take that oh so long Yamanote or Hibiya ride to Shibuya. I'm a Kita fan myself so I prefer the areas from Ikebukuro to Asakusa. So Minami-Senju is'nt bad at all.

Most capsules (sleeping in a coffin) run about 2500 yen in the metro. Great for guys who wanna shack up with 200 or more other Japanese businessmen (most of 'em too drunk and missed the last train). Considering you get a whole room to yourself @ 2500 yen is a great deal (probably why Suzuki Sarina was shocked at the low price).

Minami-Senju... had to look that one up. THAT PLACE IS IN THE CUTS. No way would I stay out there. If anyone can find a better deal near shibuya than Sakura-house, hit me up! nipponese AT gmail dot com

I stayed there on a business trip to Tokyo once. It was pretty clean and pretty quiet, and cheaper than anywhere else in Tokyo.
