Ferret-punching a-hole arrested (Video)

A few months ago, I found a shockingly disgusting video on the most-viewed list of Japanese videos on YouTube. It showed a man gripping a ferrets by the neck and punching a ferret to death as it screamed in pain. I had intended to post about it here, but when I returned from work that afternoon YouTube had thankfully removed the clip from their site. Media reports at that time speculated that the man responsible had killed the ferret and uploaded the video onto internet sites so that he could get kicks out of having thousands of people see his horrific handy work. Then, for a while there were no more reports about this man…until yesterday. [WARNING: This video news report contains gruesome acts of animal cruelty in a blurred-out form, which are still extremely disturbing and fucked up.]

The story, from the Yoimiuri Shinbun:

A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of abusing a ferret and posting a video footage of the abuse on an Internet message board, police said.

According to the police, Shinichi Moriyama abused the ferret he kept as a pet at his home in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, by beating it on the head and choking it in early February.

Moriyama was quoted by the police as saying, “[Abusing the ferret was] my outlet for everyday stress.”

Moriyama, a company employee, is believed to have posted the video footage of the abuse on the Internet message board 2channel on March 3. The police received several hundred calls and letters demanding an investigation.

According to another article, “admitted abusing between 20 to 30 ferrets since 2005, some of whom died.” It wouldn’t be surprising if this guy got the maximum penalty under the law for animal cruelty, but he probably deserves a worse punishment….

He should be similarily abused by giant robots. What a sick, sick, a-hole. It people like this, who start with animals, that end up becoming mass murderers or serial killers. Sick, sick.

I seriously thought it could’nt get any worse than that vid you posted a while back about the korean beating up the animals last month. I noticed you used the red text and yeah, this is pretty gruesome.

Also, I guess that is the difference between news here and news over there. they would probably not show this on network news here in the states but over there it has to be shown. Did they warn viewers before they showed the clip?

He is said to be the employee of Sony and will be fired.
He will be condemned to up to 1 year ‘s imprisonment with hard labor or fined 8 thousands dollars along Animal Preservation Law enforced in 1973.

Me either. Not from cowardice though. “Free speech” may be all well and good, but there are actually some things I do not want to know. How a ferret being punched to death looks is definitely one of them.

How many crimes has the internet solved/prevented by its breaking down the walls of isolation I wonder? Probably not as many as it has permitted, though….

OK, so does anyone have a screen capture of his face pic that’s a good quality? We need to make up fliers and distribute them to all the pet shops in his surrounding area, create a website with as much information about him and his sick crimes as possible, and get a pledge from Sony denouncing his actions. Instead of bitching about sick f*ck he is, we should be DOING something. The Japanese court system will do the minimum, we should make up the rest….

It’s the job of the courts to convict and punish him, and we can’t automatically assume they will do the minimum. It’s already been reported that Sony fired him, so I see no reason why people should be taking action against them.

Hubris

So, James, you don’t think it’s a good idea for the community to get involved to help prevent a repeat of this kind of action? You don’t think pet shops in the area should be notified that someone like this, who bought around 40 ferrets to kill, should be put on notice? It’s the man’s first offense, at least legally that we know of, so the court will, as they’ve done almost without fail historically, give him a light sentence. Sony isn’t punishing him, they’re trying to protect their image. What kind of payment package did he get when they fired him? If you want to be lazy and enable this kind of sickness, then sit back and leave everything to someone else. I’m glad you’re not in my community!

He’s been fired. You aren’t offering any evidence that they were generous to him when they fired him, you are only making wild speculations. The court decision has yet to be made, so I see no point in automatically proceeding as if they had given him a very light sentence. If you want to launch a campaign against Sony and print fliers to hand out to every pet shop in Kanagawa, feel free to do so on the basis of your unproven assumptions.

One more thing:

I don’t think it’s a bad idea for the community to get involved in passing out fliers to pet shops in Kanagawa Prefecture, but there’s no telling at this point whether the man will be jailed and for how long, or whether or not he will just up and move to a different area of Japan. There is just not enough information.

Thats was horrible. Watching that reminded me of my own ferrets. I love animals and can not understand how somebody could justify such an action for a reason like amusement. I know he claimed stress as the reason but if that were true would he post video of it online?

I hope when he is in jail he meets up with some street punk or a murderer who asks him why he’s there. I’m fairly sure punching a defenseless ferret to death will earn you a damn good beat down if not more.

I’m not sure it was the same Ferret, but both the punching video and the trembling and possibly dead ferret video　were uploaded to YouTube on the same day I originally viewed them, so maybe it’s the same ferret.

That guy needs a blanket party. I hope I’m using the right term. I think that’s what they did in “Full Metal Jacket”.

Anyone who abuses animals, children, or women (anyone, really) is a reprehensible shit. I had to stop myself from typing “person”.

If that asshat was truly stressed and upset, he needed to hit the gym instead(no pun intended).

Y’know… If he were American and said he was going home to “beat the ferret”, no one would think it was anything than a little TMI.

Wow I’m a little speechless. I really can’t believe people still do these sorts of things. Honestly, I find it to be complete bullshit that he has “stress” and needed to let it out. And seriously, serial killers in the US start by torturing animals, then humans. This is a little scary…

Even hell hath no place for that poor excuse to the human race!!

I have been a long time ferret owner, I lose a ferret and I cry for days, weeks. I spend good money on them so that they have the best of everything, food, toys, vet care, and this idiot goes around and busts them up.

One think IS for certain, tis lucky for him that we will never meet face to face! Hell is too good a place for him!
