Money falls from the sky in Yamanashi Prefecture (Video)

April 5th, 2007 by James

Yet another story of a large amount of cash appearing randomly in Japan:

Ten thousand yen bills fell onto a road in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, on Wednesday night, police said Thursday. A total of 35 bills were collected, said police, adding that the money appeared to have been thrown from a pedestrian overpass.

One of these days I’m going to have some wads of cash appear in front of me while walking down the street. One of these days…

This seems to be a common trend in the media lately. I think it gets reported in Japan because so many people tell the police when they find a large amount of cash.

What a great country! People finding money falling from the sky, groundskeepers finding bags full of money while cleaning the grounds (another related story a little while ago). The kicker; the money gets turned over to the police?! Don’t think you can find any other place that has that many honest people (not being sarcastic either).

May send the wrong kind of message though. People outside of Japan might think that they can find (literaly) wads of cash lying on the street corners in Japan.
