Fijian soldier arrested for urinating on Japanese woman

A bizarre news story from Stuff.co.nz:
Fiji’s international carrier Air Pacific says it has apologised to a young Japanese woman after a Fijian soldier urinated on her, the Fiji Sun reported today.
It said the soldier was returning from peacekeeping duties in Sinai when he flew from Japan to Fiji on March 22.
The Sun said the soldier exposed his private parts to a young female Japanese tourist and urinated on her. Other passengers on the flight were alerted to the incident when the tourist screamed.
[...]
“The customer was provided with cleansing cloths, antiseptic, a change of clothes from the in-flight duty-free sales materials and together with her travelling companion, were provided compensation,” he said.
The woman has apparently accepted the apology “in a traditional Japanese manner and attaches no blame to Air Pacific”, the Fiji Sun reported.
The article does not say why the soldier felt the urge to pee on the Japanese woman, so I guess we’ll just have to assume he was drunk and thought the woman’s seat was a toilet?

What is bizarre is the nationality of the perpetrator. Would have thought he would be a Kiwi: They hate the Japanese!

I wonder if urination has any meaning in Fiji as people in South Pacific ocean islands are mostly so pro-Japanese as one of the countries has same design flag with Japanese one, just different on color.
There can be used Japanese too only outside Japan.

Not the press the Fijian Army wants after they’ve just staged a coup. That lady has the flight-from-hell story to win any conversation about travel.
There’s an English teacher somewhere hearing her story and asking, “Are you sure you mean ‘urinated’?”

Wow, she accepted the apology and didn’t press charges. If it happens in the U.S, it’s a diff. story.

It would have been a sexual thing. She was probably hot like many Japanese girls and piss was enough like sperm to him(piss fetish). The right to press charges shouldn’t be restricted to her. Other passengers would have been affected. Any passenger on the flight that was bothered should have the right to press charges on that guy.
