Sumo wrestler Kotomitsuki suffers 25th straight loss to Asashoryu

Sumo wrestler Kotomitsuki faced off against Yokozuna Asashoryu Tuesday in Osaka, in what would be their 25th match. Both wrestlers had equal records in the tournament leading up to the match, but as the Yomiuri Shinbun reports, victory could only go to one of them:
For a moment, it looked like he could do it. A huge tachiai from the sekiwake put Asashoryu back on his heels and the yokozuna was in danger of becoming Koto’s eighth victim this tournament. Asashoryu reacted by spinning behind the sekiwake, where he went for a leg lift.
Kotomitsuki recovered and scrapped to parity in the middle. After a tussle for position, Kotomitsuki charged Asa to the bales, but the yokozuna spun out of the way and pulled the sekiwake down for his eighth win of the tournament.
As a result, Kotomitsuki has extended his loss-streak against Asashoryu to 25 matches. His losing record goes all the way back to November 2002. Poor guy.
