Inventor Dr. Nakamatsu enters the Tokyo gubernatorial race

Genius inventor/ ignoble award winner Dr. Nakamatsu has announced that he wants to be Tokyo’s next governor:
Inventor Dr. Nakamatsu said he intends to run in the upcoming Tokyo gubernatorial race whose campaign kicks off on Thursday.
“I had not intended to run, but those who will run in the election are unable to ease the uncertainty felt by Tokyo residents. I’m the only one who meets the qualifications for Tokyo governor,” said Nakamatsu, 78, whose real name is Yoshiro Nakamatsu.
He had unsuccessfully run in the Tokyo gubernatorial elections in 1991, 1999 and 2003. In the previous election, he garnered an impressive 110,000 votes.
Will the wacky Dr. Nakamatsu stand a chance against other big name candidates such as incumbent Shintaro Ishihara, former Miyagi governor Asano, communist Manzo Yoshida, and architect Kisho Kurokawa?
[Note: The Doctor likes to spell his name "Nakamats," but I cannot stand the sight of such an incorrect romanization, so I used "Nakamatsu."]
