U.S. deploys F-22 stealth fighers to Japan (Video)

February 18th, 2007 by James

After a short delay due to a glitch in navigation system software, the United States military has begun its deployment of the new F-22 stealth fighter to Japan.

TWO F-22 Raptors, America’s most advanced fighter jets, were deployed Saturday in Japan for the first time, the US Air Force said.

Ten more F-22s were to arrive at Kadena Air Base on the southern island of Okinawa tomorrow, the Air Force said in a statement.

Some observers in Japan had worried that the recent delay was actually a sign that the United States had made a deal with North Korea not to send the new fighters to the region, but it would appear that they have not given into North Korean demands regarding the deployment.
