As reported by Neatorama: “Right Place is the winner of the Best Short Film at Cannes 2006, directed by Kosai Sekine. It’s about an Japanese convenience store clerk with OCD that finally found the ‘right place’ for himself.”

God bless those fuckin kids. They are the only that’s RIGHT with Japanese these days. Though as everyone probably knows, this short hits on the more serious topic of mid-aged OCD Japanese. It really wasn’t until the post-WWII generation did the Japanese really see these organization freaks really come out of the woodwork to increase the efficiency of an economy playing catch-up to the west. The great thing about traditional Japanese beauty, if you will, is finding perfection in the sorrow of imperfection (the human skeletal system, for instance, is imperfect by nature). Now that Japan has been able to surpass the west on a lot of industrial levels, these uptight bastards are nothing but a plague on the future of Japanese culture.

amazing video. i have a friend who used to be ocd, but has kinda cured herself, even tho she still has a few symptoms left. and my sister is becoming ocd too hahaha. its kinda peculiar, but can be rather annoying. this short is simply great, genius.
