jost:

If someone is a Korean American, as the girls in this video likely are, there's about a 99% chance they are from the South.

passin' by makes a valid point. "Chosenjin" is the only appropriate term in this instance since we don't know which side of the 38 parallel the ladies are from.

Maybe an official Japanese government apology for war crimes would allow these girls to be open to the Japanese people. But even so, if our not hating an entire race must be based on a government's action rather than our own realization of the need for forgiveness, then there's not much hope for this old world.

I've got a lot of Korean American friends who are pretty similar to this. I don't think they hate Japanese People, they just have a collective memory that won't allow them to forgive Japan.

The fact of the matter is, if you're raised in a racist family, you're gonna grow up racist, or have some major battles to overcome when you're older.

"I think Japanese live with the darker spots in their history a lot more than people from the Americas are forced to. "
Some Koreans points out "the darker spots" in US relations with Korea in history such as the Nonguri massacre, and how the US sold Korea to Japan etc.
Probably do Americans live with the darker spots in their history a lot more than people from Japanese are forced to?

From what I know, I haven't run into many Koreans who hate the Japanese. In fact, there were plenty of Korean kids in my Japanese language and History of Modern Japan classes, and they weren't anti-Japanese at all.

CKX: I realize that true feelings come out when you're drunk, it's just that logic seems to go out the window and random prejudice comes out.

DickMcVengeance: It's easiest to express your true feelings when people are drunk/tipsy.
I had a look at the japanese comments, some of it is even worse than the stuff in the video. Someone's complaining about those rich zainichi sending their kids to expensive christian school's in LA to learn English, wtf?
I can't really blame Korean or Japanese people for being racist , because they usually don't know better, but these two clearly have spend most of their life in north america and should know better.
Does anyone know whether this is a common way of thinking among Koreans in north-america?

Meh. Japan did a lot of wrongs, back in the day, but most Japanese alive today were born after the fact.

I think Japanese live with the darker spots in their history a lot more than people from the Americas are forced to. Or people from Europe. The Japanese at their hight were rather typical of the Great Powers of the day. The Imperial Age was a terrible time to be alive.

The 'all Koreans hate Japanese' thing is a bit much. When I was a teenager, my family was a homestay for ESL students from around the world. A lot of the Koreans were like that (but not so stupid sounding), but a lot of the Koreans made friends with Japanese students.

Hopefully, as time goes by, the younger generations will be able to leave the past behind.

Exactly how is "chosenjin" NOT appropriate in this case?
Can't use "kankokujin" or "kankokukei"-
we don't know whether they're originally from
North or South Korea.

Wow, that seems extremely excessive. They also seem to have never followed the history of Korea and Japan. Just look at some of the stuff by Jon Carpenter. He gives a very different picture of Korea and Japan. In all honesty, I think these girls must've been a wee bit tipsy when they recorded this.
