A little video clip with an accompanying explanation from Japan Today:

TOKYO — American actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Smith kept Narita airport a hive of activity as they arrived within 30 minutes of each other on Wednesday afternoon. DiCaprio, 32, accompanied by director Martin Scorsese, arrived first and was whisked through the terminal in front of about 500 screaming fans. Smith, 38, touched down shortly afterward and took time out to shake hands and try out his Japanese on the fans.

DiCaprio, making his 5th visit to Japan and first one in nearly four years, is here to promote “The Departed.” He and Scorsese will attend the Japan premiere at Roppongi Hills on Friday night. Smith, last here for “I Robot” two years ago, is promoting “The Pursuit of Happyness.” He told a TV network that he was impressed by the fan turnout. “In the U.S., fans never come to the airport,” he said.

Props to Will Smith for being cool enough to actually personally greet some of the fans, although one could say that he did it because he needed the publicity more than Leo-sama did. It definately made the day of those women who were going wild with excitement after he shook their hands!
