Hooters in Japan?

hooters girls According to a recent press release, Hooters Restaurant, famous for… buffalo wings, plans to open shop in Japan by the end of the year. This presents us with a series of questions, the least of which include the, um, shall we say logistics of the uniform? But I guess if they could pull it off in China and Taiwan (pictured) they can do it in Japan.

The real question is, how will the restaurant go over in a country that makes Denny’s a restaurant that doesn’t sell hamburgers? Essentially, Hooters is a sports bar, and while i’m sure it’ll be an easy jump to switch fetishes from Race Queens to Hooters Girls, how will the recipes go over? Will they replace spicy buffalo wings with karaage? A bucket of fries with a shotglass of fries?

From what I gather from the Taiwan/China (? One of the T-shirts says Singapore) Hooters photo, it will be a restaurant that doesn’t sell hooters. IYKWIATA.

Only one problem – there is rather a shortage of hooters over here. Perhaps Tooters would be better.

FYI, when they opened in Vancouver they didn’t change the menu at all; still frat-boy heaven, circa 1985. Nachos, wings, burgers, onion rings, fries. It didn’t take long for them to go (ahem) tits-up.

Sounds interesting. I was in Hooters when I was in living in Seattle. The waitresses are very nice people indeed.

Nobody really goes to Hooters for the food. Essentially it’s a poor man’s strip club. Or in Japan’s case, hostess club. The girls sit and talk with you and make you feel like you’re not quite the loser you felt like you were for going in there in the first place.

This would be GREAT!! I live in Kumamoto and would make a special trip for such a special place! Snack bars are the worst and other places are too expensive. Japan needs Hooters! Japan needs Hooters! (Everybody!) Japan needs Hooters!!

Hooters in Japan? It’ll be like a train wreck! I worked at hooters a month ago, and let me tell you, cutesy japanese girls cannot pull it off like us, american girls. For one thing, they don’t HAVE hooters. I know that sounds racist but its true (i have hundreds of asian friends so Im not racist) and jumping from made cafes to hooters? That’s like jumping off the Grand Canyon and making it to the other side. So, sorry, no sale.
