The Top 3 Weapons Systems of Japan’s Self Defense Forces
Last night a television program featured a “Top 3 Equipment of the SDF” countdown. Here’s the video:
Summary
The Top 3 were:

No. 3: The Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). This powerful radar system can provide the early warning necessary for the SDF to scramble fighters and intercept incoming hostiles.

No. 2: The PAC-3 missile defense system, also known as the Patriot Missile. The Patriot Missile system has been significantly improved since it’s famous interception of SCUD missiles during the Gulf War. If one of Japan’s neighbors desides to fire some medium range missiles at it, the PAC-3 will have a good chance of intercepting them. I wonder where the missiles in this picture are coming from?

No. 1: The AEGIS combat system. A destroyer equipped with one of these babies can intercept an entire barrage of enemy missiles. If you’re familiar with the manga/anime Zipang, you’re probably also aware that Maritime Self Defense Force AEGIS destroyers are also capable of traveling back to the 1940′s and blowing up U.S. aircraft carriers with cruise missiles:

[Don't worry guys, it was just a cartoon.]
Do you notice anything similar about these systems? Yep, they’re all made in the good ol’ US of A.
