Polling Japanese Students #3: PlayStation 3 vs. Nintendo Wii
Yet another edition of Polling Japanese Students and yet another question. This time, I asked 43 first year students at a Japanese junior high school (that’s two full homeroom classes) to tell me which of the two new gaming consoles they preferred: PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii. The results are as follows:

Given the popularity of Nintendo DS over the PSP, I was expecting that the Wii to be more popular, but it seems that PS3 hype is stronger. The boys, who were much more interested in video games, overwhelming preferred the PS3. The girls who actually cared enough about gaming to pick one of the two seemed to prefer the Wii, probably because of its cuter games.
