-A survey found that over 1/3 of female part-time workers in Japan are forced to do unpaid overtime work. The number of those who “volunteer” to do unpaid overtime work was not revealed.
-A new resource center/museum has opened in Saitama prefecture with the goal of documenting Japan’s aggression in China. The curator is already being called a communist by opponents of the museum.
-The San Francisco Chronicle has a travel article about the onsen experience in Japan. It contains such intelligent lines as, “Now I know how lobsters feel.”
-Japan welcomes Saddam’s death sentence.
-Shane McLeod reports on the growing problem of homelessness in Japan.
-Japanese cinema shows variety, but it mostly sucks, complains a writer for the Yomiuri Shinbun. [via Ryuganji]
-Korean first-baseman Seung-Yeop Lee has signed for another 4 years with the Yomiuri Giants. So much for the major leagues..
-The biotoilet, an amazing new toilet that doesn’t use water, has been developed in Japan. What does it use instead? Sawdust!!

Softbank brings us myspace? Sorry Son, but I think you’re a bit late for that one. The similar (but o–h so much better) Korean version of myspace, CYWorld has already come to Japan, and as the article mentions, mixi already dominates the Japanese social networking scene. I just don’t think there is any room for myspace. (Thank god.)
But then again, the guy is the richest man in Japan… He knows what he’s doing.
