Broadcasting Ethics & Programming Improvement Organization officially complains to NTV about the Koda Kumi children’s erotic-cute dance competition

You may have read my July 30, 2006 update entitled “Koda Kumi’s Pedo Dance Extravaganza,” in which I criticized the NTV program ‘Small children Erotic-Cute Dance Champion’ [チビっ子エロかわダンス選手権] for sexualizing elementary school-aged girls. I took a lot of flak from commenters for my condemnation of the program, accusing me of not understanding Japan and reading way too much into what was just a bunch of little girls dancing. However, it would seem that a sufficient number of Japanese people were also concerned about the program’s sexualization of children, since it has been confirmed that the Broadcasting Ethics & Programming Improvement Organization has sent a warning letter to NTV. Here is the gist of what the Japanese news article said:
-After the program aired on July 30th, a number of viewers contacted the BPO and filed complaints about its content.
-The viewers were concerned that the program sexualized children because it featured children between the ages of 2 and 12 performing erotic dances.
-Some people took issue with the fact that the use of the word “erotic” [エロ] in the program’s title.
-The BPO investigated the complaints and sent a warning letter to NTV, asking them to never air the program again.
So there you have it. This will surely come as a disappointment for pedos everywhere, who were looking forward to an encore performance.
(And for the last time, sickos: Stop e-mailing me asking for the full mpeg recording of the TV show.)
