Dark Diamond Network has posted a Top 100 Anime list compiled by TV Asahi. I guess most of them are pretty recent, since I haven’t heard of a good portion of the titles:

Someone must have mixed up that list because I don’t agree with the order at all. Come on, Fullmetal Alchemist was decent, but its not better than Neon Genesis Evagelion, Cowboy Bebop, InuYasha or the Gundam series. Just to name a few. Crayon Shin-chan #48 and not in the top 10!?! WTF…haha.
But I haven’t watched all the ones geared more for kids and girls, so I guess I don’t have an expert’s opinion. It reads like its a poll slanted more towards recent shows anyways.

I LOVED Naruto back when it was still a kind of new anime and only a small group of people actually knew about it.
Now it’s all over the world and everyone’s obsessed with it!
That’s why I hate it now, though the show in itself is still quite enjoyable, the fanbase is immensely annoying!
I haven’t yet watched Prince of Tennis, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

Really though, its all about personal preference. If it was me, I’d put Macross as number 1 and include Lucky Star at least SOMEWHERE in the list. But, these are Japanese, and I guess they have different opinions than i do..

because someone has an opinion that you disagree with you say their opinion is wrong or bad? what if i said YOUR judgement is bad because i disagreed with you?
aside from that, i think this list bears some accuracy because haruhi is in the fourth place where it should be–and because it IS, this list is probably based on highest ranking ratings in JAPAN. Sorry if our american/western tastes for japanese violence is not the same as those of japanese people.
of course, we can all at least agree that those animes listed are good.

actually this list is highly inacurate and based on opinion although i highly disagrea with number 2being onepiece it has 383 episodes and thier manga is like 561(i think i might be a little off on the manga) and their fanbase is huge not as huge as bleach,but thier huge amount of the material release makes up for it. bleach has 198 episodes but thier fanbase is much greater than that of number 2’s onepiece. number 1 is naruto, its fanbase is just overwelming. it has 298 episodes i think.(including shippuden) and they have 398 manga chapters. not volumes, chapters.and to all the people saying well what about dragonball z,all i got to that is it was great while it lasted but its dead now. it had 496 episodes(this includes all series). which naruto would serpass. judging from the manga which is probably half compete, if the episodes caught up to the manga it would be almost the same if not greater.

I don’t know what makes you think that the best is the longest. Yeah, Naruto is like lasting forever, along with Onepiece and Iniyasha, thank God the last one ended recently.
I mean it’s not a talk show, it can’t go on and on and on.
For if it lasts that long the authors forget what they wanted to create at the beginning and make something just to make profit.

i cant believe someone actually put prince of tennis up there!!!. i watched it and it was really boring but thats just my opinion…. i love yu yu hakusho i think its place, 15, is pretty descent… i think inuyasha should be up a little more or somin… i also like saiyuki as well… i wish it was up higher… so i do think that this persons so called opinion is a little off… maybe someone needs to re do it!!!!!!!!

yeah! me too!! I love Prince of Tennis! I respect other opinions but I don’t think they have the right to insult my favorite anime! Animation and story were good. I love how Takeshi Konomi made a twist on tennis and how he oppose the law of Physics… hehe
FMA deserves the spot, it has a good plot and there are lots of amazing trivia behind the show, the logo is the best example. I think the persons behind FMA sweat a lot just to produce a great show.

hey i vote for full metal alchemist be in the no. 1 for its really good especially the plot of the story
i really idolized the person who created FMA. even thou its fiction it really shows the reality of life.

come on! fullmetal alchemist? what’s good in it? two boys who miss they mom, the try to revive her, they lose their body, they search a stone, which needs thousands of sacrifices, for one body, and they cry all the time, on the other hand 7 dolls want to be human, another wants to be a funher, another wants to marry the funher, one girl wants to be a mechanic, one scared man wants to avenge his tribe, but is in love with his brother’s girlfriend, which is dead, two lovers, 400 years old have broke up, one of them is married, but leaves his house, because he doesent want his children to see him, and last but not least, in the end, one of the boys gets his body, but sacrifices him for the other brother, which has already sacrificed his life for the dead brother, which doesen’t die but comes among us, in earth. im mean seriously people, whats up with that? you are either blind, or blind and stupid.

exactly.. it was all funny and cool till then. after that they started stretching episodes like anything with similar sounding dialoges and all.i was a great fan of it earlies but then even a dumb frog can notice the similarity in the characters (bad or incompetent elder brother, lost childhood, never smiling face etc..) attimes it looked like the director is not able to come uo with something new or big enuuff. so non lasting episodes..like the one around in70s when naruto sakura and pakun- the dog chase sasuk in turn chasing gaara for more than 14 episodes–even night doesn’t fall then.
to all the guys watch FRUITS BASKET it very short so maybe not that popular but seriously it is like watching the best creamy quality 26 episodes of your life.. even cardcaptor sakura is fine. doremon is okay! i honestly think fruits basket deserves place in top 3

Like seriously eureka 7’s stroy line was genious for one it wasnt just some blam blam kablamoo go kill him shit it actually had a point and the fact that it was more of a romance made it that much better and it has a reasonable amount of episodes 50 is plenty 533 is terrible stop making the fucking show already Also the combat in eureka 7 was great i think it deserves 1-3 by far its the best anime ever :p

FMA Deserves the spot it has, but the thing I have a problem with is that Cowboy Bebop is that low… That should be top 3 easily. Same with Mushishi… And Naruto isn’t that good of an anime. Love Bleach, but can’t stand this new filler arc. Tengen Toppa… Where is that on the list… That has to be one of my favorite animes ever… Same with Death Note… They need to revise this. Have everyone vote, except for the Naruto Fanbase, then we will see a sensible order.

Full Metal Alchemist is deserving to be # 1 or 2 among the animes listed. and it is definitely better than neon genesis evangelion. the only anime that can top it so far in terms of the story is rouruni kenshin. review animes with open mind and heart for you to understand its true values. Many cannot see or feel what is real thats why things mix in complicted situation where others view it differently.

For me, rorouni kenshin is still the best anime of all times. Aside from being inspirational of the story, it also portrays most of the japanese tradition. And the main character, Kenshin Himura is a man of dignity and honor who always fight for what he believes. He also values everyone’s life and friendship.

I think Fullmetal Belongs in the top ten but not at the top of the list.I love Fullmetal and all but there are shows better than it,way better.I also think that Inuyasha belongs in the top ten,just cause its my fav show.Of course it is pretty repeative and the plot isnt exactly great but it does desrve to be higher than twenty on the list.Oh, yeah and what the hell is up with Bleach being number seven!It should be like number five or four!Plus Naruto is higher than Inu!Not cool I hate Naruto!And Dragonball was good but not THAT good.I’m talking number fifteen or sixteen good not twelve!Geez!(sorry not usually this crazy.)Oh, yeah and Joel anime is not crap!Its something people watch to pass the time.Pretty much my whole family liks it so, apparently, its not crap!(sorry, such a long comment.)

well, i dunt realli agree with the top 10 anime. First of all, i haven watched some of them but i’ve read the plot summary and it doesn’t interest me at all. i mean some of the top 10 animes should be: one piece (very funny), death note, naruto, and ruroini kenshin. Full metal alchemist…is definetely, one of the top as well as prince of tennis. Inuyasha is very repetitive…sometimes i find it boring so i never finished watching it :S . Hunter x hnter is good too.

Blasphemy no cowboy bebop or trigun in top ten, or any outlaw star or gundam wing the one with Deathsite and Wing Zero those are all top 5 worthy. kenshin isn’t all that top ten but not top 5. I really liked Death Notes alot that could get top 15 marks, and also what about Witch Hunter Robin it finallied and kicked some of the asses…
Alot of those top tens are way to long of a show run. The best shows ever should be those 20-30 long series were the focus really was on story and character rather on getting tons of little kids hooked for years.

Yea. I gotta agree that this seems pretty off. Full Metal Alchemist was good but I don’t think it would be good enough to make it into the top 10. Detective Conan has 500+ episodes and it hasn’t even made the top 20 list. Then there’s Dragon Ball, a manga that started over 20 years ago and their are still games being made AND bought in mass consumption and it didn’t even make the top ten. And despite One Piece’s repetitive plot, it still should of been in the top ten just because of it’s popularity. Doreamon’s not on their either; which leads me to conclude that this list isn’t very accurate at all.

Well…. I prefer to watch animes that arent aired on cartoon network, but nowadays it seems all of them suffer the same fate of that horrid channel. If people dont believe that CN is crap, then download a few animes with the original voicing, and subtitles, ONE, it teaches you ALOT about Japanese culture, and language, like chan, san, baka, oujo, taicho, ossan, so on and on, and two, I think the whole experience of having to read, and yes I mean words……. is a good thing. I happen to be a huge fan of Bleach, One-piece, Blood + and some others, Gunsword was cool, Ninja Scrolls was decent, but I didnt really dig Akira and others like Fooly Cooly. I dont really dig the futuristic ones like gundam and stuff, but hey, I most def will not put them down. Oh yah and for those of you freaks who dig hentai, THAT IS NOT TRADITIONAL Japanese anime, A-holes.

this little wizard helps him to try and get this girl.. his magic only last about 15minutes but then he always fails…
the little wizard also seems to love takoyaki.. and has a older sister who was latter summoned who can do magic as well but last longer…
the main character boy… also i think ends up fighting some dude from another world and at the end he won.. i think he fought against this evil wizard

Personally, I really didn’t like Witch Hunter Robin. It bored me and the music was pretty corny/awful. I just didn’t think it was that well-written or well-done. Hoever, I didn’t finish it for all those reasons, so meh, maybe it got better..

This list sucks, Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, the Ruroni Kenshin OVA and Cowboy bebop should be in the top 10. Bleach is good but cannot compare the others. Naruto is good too, but it isnt that amazing, it deserves the spot it got. Oh and Inuyasha should not be that far up….it sucks >.>

Guys for real, i mean fma is good, has a very good plot and all, however i think at least in the top 5 should b naruto. Many of u think that it sux mainly bcuz of the filler arc that lasts forever… perhaps currently its not the best, but for those of u who read the manga, when the anime reaches that point, it’ll without a doubt be in the top 3. Shippuuden even more than the original which was also really good, has everything… twists, great action, great plot, and naruto in general has among the best characters. All characters have a great story and the fights are really good (especially my man shikamaru’s) DBZ is good too but too much power, like repetitive, ss1, then ss2, then ss3. Bleach is good too but still naruto will b at the top one day… GO NARUTOOOO,

Naruto should be on the top 10, and One Piece should be given the rightful spot that it deserves. I’m glad that they have included bleach. They may have contain crappy fillers sometimes but they still rock more convincingly than an army of POT. damn, I’ve watched so many of the top list and I’ve gotta say I’m pretty depressed. FMA was pretty good, but none of these anime ever live up their full potential. FMA never truly explored what the gate was, just what it did. Who actually were those hormuncules? Death Note seemed like it would, but too much fluff, no exploration of the Death Gods’ world, terrible ending which just used old plot twist tricks and nothing new. The middle of all of these are just used as extensions to add more characters and slow things down. They should be used to delve deep into the already created world in order to enrich what exists. Don’t get me wrong, maybe they belong where they do, but come on people, make a good one already!

I think new Animes should be up there like Death Note & Devil May Cry they were great animes. i think this is a poll from a japanese magazine as most of them have stopped Airing long time ago like tenchi was made in 92 and DBZ was made around that time aswell.
Japanese Taste is different to the Western Culture. I think Naruto should be where it is. To me personally Its getting Like Pokemon too big and everywhere.

Bear in mind that Naruto is, like Dragonball Z, catered to an American audience. As such, it is perfectly normal for a ninja otaku to not like Naruto. One glance of the character designs, and you can tell straight away that they are for Americans.
In fact, for a ninja otaku to not like Naruto is proof that this ninja otaku is a true blue ninja otaku.
Furthermore, Naruto has far too many episodes for it to warrant a spot in the top 10. The same should, technically speaking, apply for Bleach, but I shan’t say anything about that anime despite how much I hate it, since it’s already there. one important thing to anime is coherence and organisation of the plot, and that isn’t going to come easy when you have to many (read: excessively redundant) episodes. All anime should ideally work at around either 13, 26 or 52 episodes. Not over 100.
Overall, the list has everything that should be there. Some anime are in the right place (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Suzumiya Haruhi, Naruto, etc), while some aren’t (i.e, Fullmetall isn’t what I call “No. 1″. Brilliant work, but not the best).

you can’t really blame them if death note ain’t here since the date above says october 16, 2006 whilst death note first aired on october 6, 2006 and though manga is popular in japan, the series isn’t really acknowledged as a very good one unless an anime adaptation is made.
anyway, i totally agree with the list, and i mean come on, people! this list contains TOP 100. there are more anime than that. so for you naive naruto die-hard fans, you should know that 17’s a good position. just because you think the anime is great (i find the manga really good, but the animation sucks) doesn’t give you the right to lash out at everybody else who thinks otherwise. besides, naruto’s fillers put it in that rank. i mean who would want to watch almost (or more) two years of filler episodes with no direction to the story? the same goes for bleach too but in both cases, it had to be done. i’m just saying that naruto waited for the manga to expand for a great length of time. just watch the other titles you haven’t seen then. fullmetal alchemist is undoubtedly really good and it kinda deserves its spot (oh ueah, blood and violence XD) even though i find bleach better but opinions differ.

I totally agree with u , FUSHIGI YUGI is THE BesT !! I mean seriously with all respect to ur opinions but really where is Fushigi ?!! Come on its not even mentioned in the top 100 anime list!! I can’t beleive it it’s totallya UNFAIR , really howcome it’s not even there!! I find that very depressing how can animation with this greatness be treated like that! Fushigi deserves to fully take place number 1 of all the animations, it’s really should be in top 5 at least and top 1 for sure.
how come this wonderfull most delaitful , charming and beautiful story be treated like that. Fushigi was and still the best Japanese anime if it wasn’t for FY I wouldn’t loved or admired the Japanese anime that much.
Ps: Shana really deserves at least to be in the top 5

FMA certainly deservesa high spot, but so many great animes arent on there? Elfen Lied is beautiful and sad, Tengen Toppa gurren Lagann is awesome and has that manly fighting spirit with a good plot and characters and humor^^ Im starting to watch prince of Tennis i think im already addicted , at 1st i was like..lol wtf now im an addict yet again!

Well, i do agree that there are some anime that are in the top 10 , but the ranks are a bit off. Wel personally i really likes FMA even though i don’t really like to watch that kinds of animes. but the END totally suck. Well that’s just my opnion. But al lot of these animes have rough drawn characters. I like when they look pretty or at least not so rough. Like in the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya.

the list is pretty good, personally ive watched 40 of the top 100 but as other people say it misses out alot. Also this list is getting old 2006 its now been 2 years…
All i can say were the hell is Black Lagoon its freakin awsome there are alot of annime i could say that arnet there but yeah… gives me a few more to consider watching in the future and maybey a few to add to my collection:).

Just this year i started to watch anime, coz before im busy, when i got bored i think of something and out of the blue i love anime already, but i knew a few so i can comment a little though much better if NARUTO falls higher than the other, Prince of tennis maybe good and i like it, but Then im not yet finish watching it so no comment, hunter x hunter also better than the other… i dont why other complain about the top 100, coz lots of people means lots of taste, so we can’t blame them, just enjoy and watch it and choose the best for yourself.
by the way im old enough for this staff but i admit i really like it…

Full Metal Alchemist’s ending was a total let down, other than that it definately deserves it’s place. Ghost in ths shell? Not in top ten? And Naruto, which I cannot understand why people like, is in the top twenty 80+ at least.

I think FMA deserves to be number 1. It’s an amazing anime. I was hooked onto it the moment I saw it. It’s story line is incredible, the voice acting is incredible, the art, character development, etc. I think it’s as perfect as an anime can get, IMO.
I like Inuyasha and all, don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan. But to be honest, it’s got nothing on FMA. Inuyasha for one thing is confusing to me. And it gets boring for me at times. I was never bored watching FMA. But that’s my opinion. We’ve all got different tastes.

Where the hell is Bleach, Code Geass, D. Gray Man, Tri-gun, Hellsing, Gundam. There are a hell of a lot better animes. Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest animes of all time and everyone who watches anime has seen some of it and loved it. Naruto and Bleach should be in the top 5 shows watched worldwide because of there sheer overwhelming popularity. Gundam was on the favourite list of atleast 2/3 anime fans. I don’t know how a show about tennis got up in rank 8 but what i do know is that the people who polled on this were on something heavier than crack.
I would really like to see a new poll and for you to send it to the people who have posted here, you have our emails so why not send us the poll.
We’re the fans who know what we like and know the good animes from the bad.
