JR tourism commercials: A look at the beauty of Kyoto and Nara (Videos)
Japan Railways’ commercials are without a doubt some of my favorite non-wacky commercials on Japanese TV. I’m usually not obsessed with “omg Japan look at the old temples” kind of stuff, but whoever JR hires to film these commercials does a really great job with the cinematography/direction. I recently found a YouTube user who had posted 23 of JR’s tourism commercials, so I thought I’ll share a couple of my favorites in this post.
If you’re living in Japan, you probably recognize this commercial featuring Nara’s Toudaiji Temple(Spring 2006):
And here’s one featuring Kyoto’s Kiyomizudera (Autumn 2004):
The beautiful sakura of Kyoto’s Maruyama Park (Spring 2006):
Special Effects-tastic view of Nara’s Yaukushiji Temple (Summer 2006):
Check out the rest of the commercials here.
