Executive Koala

Today I rented and watched “Koala Kacho“(Executive Koala), a movie about a salaryman named Tamura who happens to be a giant Koala. When I noticed it on display at Tsutaya, it looked too stupid to be true and I had to watch it. I knew that it had to have been created by the same people who created “Ika Wrestler“(Calamari Wrestler) and “Kani Goalkeeper“(Crab Goalkeeper), similarly ridiculous films about giant animals that walk around in our world and act like normal people. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece, and I didn’t get one: the movie was really stupid. It wasn’t as entertaining as “Ika Wrestler”, but if you’re into retarded movies, I suggest you watch it.

The plot of the movie isn’t so great, so instead I’ll just describe my favorite part of the movie (with screen captures):

At the end of the movie, Koala Executive busts out of prison and confronts his nemesis. Right before the battle, Koala Executive has a flashback to the holocaust his people suffered when the first Europeans came to Australia(click for larger images):

    Chased by murderous dingo packs!

Ignorant Europeans are fearful of the peaceful koalas….

    …and they mercilessly slaughter them!

    Koala babies were orphaned!

But that wasn’t even the beginning of the atrocities!!!

The memory of those events turned Koala Executive into an unstoppable fighting machine, and he quickly defeated his foes. The ending was lame, but the above images made the movie worth the 300 yen rental fee I paid.
