Disturbing video: stupid person + oncoming train = horrible death?

September 19th, 2006 by James

If you’re easily shocked or disturbed, this video is not for you. I thought I’d share it with you because I’ve met a few foreigners who regularly cross train tracks at unsafe times when they are in a hurry:

This Japanese girl attempts to cross train tracks when there is clearly an oncoming train. She even pauses for a second, looks at the train, and then tries to dash across it’s path. She doesn’t quite make it in time, and it thrown several feet. Was she intentionally trying to get killed? Pretty messed up.

that other train on the right was still passing anyway, why the hell was she in such a hurry to get to that little landing between them?

This reminds me of a Japanese drama. She was probably on her way to see her boyfriend at the hospital, who just woke up out of a coma he entered when saving her sister who nearly drowned. Now there’s going to be more tragedy as the boyfriend gets his second chance at life but now has to come to grips with the fact that his girlfriend is paralyzed and–get this–her father is still opposed to their marriage!

Hmmm I remember train suicides for a while were becoming so common along the Chuo line people started calling them Chuocides…

Can this really be considered a suicide? It looks as if she is actually trying to cross the track, and she almost makes it.
