This could be perceived as Koreans and Japanese no longer hostile towards each other, as long as the girls can go gyaru!!!

No, Koreans will always be hostile. And in a few years, the Koreans will claim they invented gyaru style.

I doubt anyone in Korea will go so far as to claim something like they actually invented gyaru style.
A lot of fashion and music in Korea is influenced by Japan. It’s ok to copy their style of making comics and anime, to copy their popular snack food, and to copy the style of popular Jpop acts. It’s been going on for years, and has little to do with a growing love between Korea and Japan. I doubt this will do anything to reduce the anti-Japanese nationalism that has been engrained into so many Koreans.

Gyaru in Japan are ridiculously hideous little things. Where’s the blonde hair and the blatant tan? The tasteless facial make-up? And look, they match! These girls are far from gyaru style.

There are many many levels to gyaru-ness. Sometimes Japanese girls who consider themself to be gyaru look just like the girls above. It’s just that we are used to seeing the horrifying image of banba gyaru and other extreme make-up/clothing nightmare gyaru.

You seem to have a weird perception that Koreans are hostile people or something. I went there last year to teach English and the people were great! koreans don’t copy the Japanese.. the two countries do influence each other and have lots in common=). I mean looking at the korean gyaru they look so Japanese I can’t tell the difference. I hope Korean girls don’t go gyaru.. it will ruin their natural beauty image

It is true that japanese and korean fashion and music influence eachother, but they have been diverging in the past decade or so, especially fashion. By fashion I mean trends and fads, not general clothing wear and such, which to my knowledge is similar. Also, when it comes to music, many korean singers have become increasingly popular in japan, and other regions in asia. Take BoA for instance, I have heard people adamantly claim she is japanese which is annoying. I have not heard of too many japanese singers become popular in korea, though I did like y2k which featured a japanese member. This may be because koreans dont pay their singers as much as the japanese do, which is another reason why korean singers come out with japanese albums. There is still hostility, but I believe most of it lies with the elderly. Also, i think generally more extreme things are accepted in japan, i mean, have you seen their game shows? A lot of it almost seems like an excuse to be perverted, but some of it is gold.

noel : sorry x_x i can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic, or if you meant it.
I do admit that the elderly crowd in Koreans all are quite hostile to the Japanese, but that is the same for the elderly of the Chinese and even those of the Philippines : )
I am a korean, and I am not against the Japanese culture. In fact, I love it. (Yes x) I’m a korean gyaru hehehe) Don’t get me wrong, I love my own culture too. During my education, i wasn’t taught anti-japanese education, But yes, I was taught anti-japan-of-world-war-2 education. The normal koreans of today, are very into Japanese culture and do not have any hostility about Japanese people. But they do have hostility for the past. But that is that. It’s just like how some of the English does not like the French, even if the war between them has ended hundreds of years ago. : )
If you have met Koreans who have been hostile to you for your Japanese heritage, I’m sorry that happened. But I have met endless amount of people who blame me for being biased, violent, copycats, ugly, rude, hostile just because for the reason that I was Korean. (Without any notion of mine)
So please do not think that it is only Koreans who are biased.
: ) Thanks for reading ^^
