First cosplayer astronaut fails his physical

August 22nd, 2006 by James

Back in July, I reported about an otaku millionare who was planning to set to become the first cosplaying space tourist. Unfortunately, CNN is reporting that he has failed his medical examination:

Daisuke “Dice-K” Enomoto, 34, was to be launched in a Russian Soyuz vehicle from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with the next space station crew on September 14. However, Roscosmos spokesman Igor Panarin told The Associated Press that Enomoto “was deemed not ready to fly for exclusively medical reasons.”

Another person will be chosen to fly with U.S. commander Miguel Lopez-Alegria and Russian flight engineer Mikhail Tyurin, Panarin said.

A true shame. Let’s hope that Dice-K can overcome his medical problems and eventually achieve his dream of dressing up like Char Anzable and playing with gundam figurines on the international space station..

I bet they lied, so they don’t have to show that cosplayer to the world ;)
