Two Pacific War Movies, Two Trailers
In the last week, two new trailers for Japanese movies set in the Pacific War were uploaded onto official film sites.
The first trailer is for ‘I will go to die for you above all‘, Gov. Ishihara’s tribute to Kamikaze pilots. Check it out here.
The second trailer is a Japanese preview for Clint Eastwood’s two Iwo Jima films. The first film, ‘Flags of our Fathers‘, is an English language film based on the bestselling book of the same title about the marines who raised the flag on Iwo Jima. The second film, which will be released in Japan under the title ‘Letters from Iwo Jima‘
, tells the story of the battle from the Japanese perspective, with an all-star Japanese cast that includes Ken Watanabe as General Kurabayashi. The trailer can be viewed here. Look for the first film in late October, and the second film in early December.
