Sendai City Mayor blocks construction of Chinatown

It seems that plans by a Japanese/Chinese group to build a Chinatown in Sendai City as a sort of urban-renewal/tourist attraction are being blocked by the city’s major who has allegedly told people, “If the land is handed over to the Chinese, it could pose a risk to public order.”

Genuinely anti-foreign politician, or media hype?
