Chinese bootleg merchants on the streets of Osaka? Oh dear!
Last night I saw this Japanese news report on YouTube. When I tried to access it’s url this morning, it said the video was “private” and I could not view it. It’s rather unfortunate, since it was about a somewhat interesting topic: Chinese bootleggers setting up market in Osaka!
Here’s a brief summary based on what I remember seeing last night & the view screen captures I took of the video:

A reporter visits a street along a park in Osaka, and finds that there is a street market there. What are they selling? Chinese bootlegs of popular DVD’s!! The reporter also notices that they are selling cartons of cigarettes (which might be illegal?) and designer bags.

He buys one of the bags and takes it to an expert (notice his respectable hair style), and the bag is found to be A FAKE! Who would have thought?!!

In a classic act of non-confrontational policing, the city authorities decide to barriers along the side of the street to prevent street vendors from setting up.

Their lame plan fails miserably. The street vendors are back and the bootlegging continues! Who will save Japan from this foreign menace?
