Hello Kitty Car

July 20th, 2006 by James

A lot of people talk about their ‘dream car’, but what about their ‘nightmare car’? Here’s mine:

The special edition Hello Kitty K-Car, from Mitsubishi. Read more about it at Nihon Car and Bike.  There are a couple other pictures in the official Mitsubishi press release.[Thanks for the link, Ken Y-N]

You have been duped. There is no such car, it’s just a computer rendering.

The pics are obviously a rendering, but that doesn’t prove the concept is not going to be turned into a real car.

Looks like there is just one in the whole wide world, which could be yours for a mere 2.1 million yen (plus tax, etc) if you get down to Nipponbashi next weekend.

Mitsubishi Press Release

Better not show that page to the wife or she’ll be booking Shinkansen tickets…

I stand corrected. A real car went on display, a photo of it appeared on the Mainichi website. Hard to tell from the pic, but it doesn’t look quite so tricked out as the computer rendering.
