    According to starpulse.com:

Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang feels Japanese censors who banned Memoirs Of A Geisha should feel ashamed of their actions. The star was appalled when officials scrapped screenings of the acclaimed Rob Marshall movie due to the fact the director hired Chinese stars to play Japanese geisha girls.

Can somebody tell me exactly what she is talking about? Back when Memoirs Of A Geisha came out in Japan last year, I remember there being a lot of media hype about the movie. Most of it seemed to be positive hype, and theaters everywhere were showing the movie. I watched the movie at a theater in Japan, and I didn’t recall hearing anything about censorship. It wasn’t a gigantic box office success, but it did show in theaters across the Japan.

So, is Ziyi Zhang horribly ignorant to criticize Japan for banning Memoirs of a Geisha from being screen? Did somebody neglect to tell her that the movie was banned in China? Was there actually an incident in which the Japanese government banned Memoirs of a Geisha from being screened? Or is the article the result of a horrible translation error?
