If you read Carlos Ghosn's "SHIFT" he mentions how people at the old Nissan would give him these insane timeframes. Like 3 years for a project that should only take 3 months. Typical Japanese non-productivity at work. Plus it really does take a lot of time to get everyone's <em>hanko </em>on the memo Time frames are another thing that somehow get warped in Japan.
