The Bee Idiot

If you follow news about the Dokdo/Takeshima dispute between Japan and Korea, you have probably heard about the bee guy. The bee guy is a South Korean bee farmer who decided to protest Japan’s claim to the islet by covering himself in almost 200,000 bees and jump on the Japanese flag(BBC article). His performance was covered by many blogs and news sites, but I never saw a video of it. Well, here is the video(from a Japanese news program).

“Ahn Sang-gyu, known for his bee performances, had tears running down his face as he was stung 200 times.”

After the jump! Japan’s flag is covered in bees! The ultimate dishonor. Japan will surely give up its claim to the islets now!

What an amazing display of idiocy.

The article has been questioned on its POV-ness for having Korean references which is being discussed but it hasn’t been vandalized. Not very NPOV of you to say though.

The mere fact that the article, which used to refer to the islets as the “Liancourt Rocks”, has been changed to say “Dokdo” whenever it mentions the islets is a clear sign that somebody in favor of the Korean viewpoint decided to edit the entire entry to make it express a pro-Korean view. If that isn’t politically motivated vandalism, I don’t know what is.

Oh, you’re right, I read the article a while ago and didn’t notice the name change when I looked it up again after reading your post. It’s too bad, because the article is, or at least was, pretty objective aside from the name issue.
